Doctoral Internship Application

The annual stipend is $33,914.40. Benefits include fifteen (15) days paid annual leave, sick leave, thirteen (13) holidays, and medical and life insurance plans. The twelve month internship program begins on the first working day in August.

 

The Psychology Internship Program at Center for Behavioral Medicine adheres to APPIC notification and acceptance procedures. Preference is given to applicants who are judged to be prepared for supervised independent functioning within a multidisciplinary team, and who understand and are able to cope with the challenges of working with seriously mentally ill patients.

 

Candidates must be enrolled in a doctoral program in counseling or clinical psychology. APA approved programs are required. All formal course work and comprehensive examinations must be successfully completed by the start of the internship. Applicants must have completed three semesters of supervised practica and successfully proposed their dissertation. Completion of comprehensive exam by selection day is preferred.

Screening Process

Completed applications are evaluated on a variety of factors including "goodness of fit" with our site to identify a pool of applicants to interview. We will notify all applicants of their application status via e-mail. You will be notified if you are no longer under consideration.  Please be sure to provide your correct email address. We will notify applicants of interview status by December 5th.

Interview:

Applicants are invited to interview with multiple faculty members via videoconferencing. Invitees are provided a choice of approximately 11 dates during December and January.  All invitations are offered by email.  Phone interviews will be granted for applicants who are unable to connect via videoconferencing.  Our Program will be as flexible as possible to allow for time zone restrictions and technical difficulties.

In reviewing our process, we decided to make an addition to the interview portion. We let potential applicants know that we will ask specific questions regarding how they could contribute to our site and their class in the domains of diversity knowledge, awareness, and sensitivity in ways that are not specifically highlighted in their essays.

 

Computer Match Program
