Center for Behavioral Medicine, an organization which operates under the auspices of the Missouri Department of Mental Health, provides comprehensive mental health services to patients from Kansas City, Missouri and seven surrounding counties. Center for Behavioral Medicine (formerly known as Western Missouri Mental Health Center - WMMHC), is located on Hospital Hill in the Heart of Kansas City.
The organization also operates seven group homes and provides forensic services to the criminal courts in 25 counties in the west central and southwest areas of the state. The Center for Behavioral Medicine serves as the University of Missouri-Kansas City’s Department of Psychiatry, which includes the Psychology Predoctoral Internship Program accredited by the American Psychological Association, and all Licensed Psychology staff members hold faculty appointments at University of Missouri-Kansas City School of Medicine. The organization is also a training site for Social Workers, Pharmacists, Nurses, and Rehabilitation Therapists. Center for Behavioral Medicine is accredited by the Joint Commission on Accreditation for Hospital Organizations.
